Programme Notes

I’d long wanted to write a big, noisy voluntary for organ. When I discussed this with the Organist of Peterborough Cathedral, Chris Strange, it was the perfect opportunity for me to write just such a piece. The form was largely inspired by the finale to Saint-Saëns’ 3rd Symphony, but the main theme was another one of those happy instances where it emerged from thin air to me.
